Interesting Japanese dining experience in Cancale. Michelin rated nonetheless. Nice, simple dishes and very tasty. Go for the tasting menu and wine pairing.

What a great Menu at the La Table de Breizh! A fixed Menu with so many wonderfully prepared ingredients, forming all those tastes and flavours by the hands of the Chefs and served by the Staff Team. Everyone was so friendly and explained all dishes up to the last ingredient. The Sake pairing was excellent as well, the Natural Sake at the end took the crown!

This place was soo soo good, traditional Japanese with homages to Bretagne ingredients and foods. The dessert with strawberry and Sakura was excellent. And the oyster and rice dish was my favorite from the tasting menu! It was clear that the staff worked so hard to prepare a well thought out and complex meal.

The setting was superb, and the meal was well-designed with interesting flavors that worked together seamlessly.

A very nice experience, Brittany food paired with japanese ingredients and style, flavorsome and so nicely presented.

It was a beautiful evening and an outstanding dining experience at “La Table Breizh Café.” Wine pairing perfectly enhanced the super creative and delicious five-course dinner. My favorite dishes were the first two (Langoustine, Homard) and the last (the sorbet au lait ribot), but every single one was succulent.

After finishing both challenges (every stars in Paris and 3 Stars in France - follow me for all the reviews and updates) I’m now redoing most and exploring more, like this one. The spirit is in Japan, the heart in Brittany. What’s interesting here? Both chefs story. A French chef in love with Japan (and married to a Japanese). That’s the story of Bertrand Larcher. He went to work in Tokyo (doing Brittany’s buckwheat pancakes- galettes bretonnes), eventually came back, now has a lot of successful pancake places with more or less a Japanese touch in it. Like the one on the ground floor. But upstairs, it’s on the “more” Japanese side. The design, the sitting (low tables with shoes removed or at the counter), the staff, the entire atmosphere. The key point is that there’s a fascination for the Japanese culture. But the view, the ingredients…. A guy from the Brittany coast will forever be attached to his roots. Speaking of roots. A Japanese chef in love with a French women (I assume since they are married…). On the other side you have chef Fumio Kudaka, came from Japan, settled here with a local. And from this marriage, you can see the love for the French cuisine in his work. The accent is Japanese, but the base is a love for the French Arôme. The heart is in Brittany, the spirit in Japan. It’s a star be decently dressed, but no pressure, you’re in Cancale, you’re there for the view, the oysters, not the show. It’s a solid star. You’ll have a feeling of having escaped your world for a couple of hours when you’ll walk back from this restaurant.

Excellent ambiance. Wonderful hospitality. Delicious japanese food cooked right in front of us
